When first learning how to build a cob structure, it can be a mystery about how all those doors and windows get installed into the cob walls. Its actually not too difficult!

For example, as you build the walls upward, layer by layer, you come to the level that you want to place your window. You put a window frame onto this spot, brace it, and continue to build the walls upward around the frame.

The cob walls then get built around the window frame’s “anchors” so the frame is integrated solidly with the wall.

Then when the walls are completed, you can install the actual glass window into this frame that is connected into the cob walls.
